SOS: Snowboard Outreach Society with the HIVE

MYA is collaborating with The Hive (DGO) to bring 7 Mancos HS & MS kids to Purgatory for 5 consecutive Wednesdays!

This is an academic incentive program, & we're pumped to be a part of it for the 2nd season in a row.

Thank you Kelsie & the crew at The Hive!

We hope to run Skate Night from May to November 2024. Thank you to all of the funders who stepped up to help make this possible!

Special thanks to: SCYC, Team Up / United Way South West Colorado, The Town of Mancos, and Environmental Designs for all their support in making this happen!

The teens from Thursday Night Hangout (aka: Mancos Wellbeing Project) made a Podcast episode!

Thank you to Forward Together, Mancos RE-6 & Oak Tree Youth Resources for supporting us in this endeavor!

Welcome, Naomi E! >>>

Naomi is the new enthusiastic Youth Lead for our Youth Community Partnership TG Grant. Here she speaks about why a youth space would benefit our community, town and county! We’re still looking for the right space to make a youth space happen. For now, instead, we are focusing on a “Youth Mental Health Day.” Stay tuned for more information!

THANK YOU Tony Grampsas Foundation!!!

& THANKS, NAOMI! You’re awesome.

Past postings… (see some of what we’ve done!)

THE SKATE PARK NEEDS A FACELIFT. Wanna help?

Pea gravel removal! WORK DAY (already happened!) on: 8/11.

If you missed it, but would still like to help, please text us! There will be more work days! We are making benches next, and building a picnic table! Coordinate (and make sure the correct paperwork is signed) by texting or calling Jorie at: (970) 715-1095.

To show youth engagement and build ownership (things we’ve told the funder we are creating with this money), we need youth to show up!

Coordinate (and make sure the correct paperwork is signed- parents, we need youth under the age of 18 to have a form signed for the Town’s Insurance) by texting or calling Jorie at: (970) 715-1095.

Or use the button below to email us if that’s easier.

and THANKS! We know fall and the beginning of school is busy!

The background:

We have asked the young humans what they want. Many of them said: a better Skate Park. So we have taken that input to the great folks at United Way, and now have $9,000 to make this project concept happen- but we need YOUTH to make it a reality!!! We have a few next phases tentatively planned- but first we are going to get the rest of the pea gravel removed, and get the new cover put down, and hopefully get a shade structure built!
